Over 50 years of design excellence

In 1965, Alan Grinsfelder left an established career with a Fort Wayne architectural firm to accept a full time faculty position in the Architectural Technology Program at the new Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne regional campus. At the same time, he opened his own architectural practice and, in 1968, Grinsfelder Associates Architects made its home in the historic West Central neighborhood of downtown Fort Wayne.

Serving northeast Indiana for more than 50 years, our staff is committed to providing the highest level of excellence to our community. The firm excels in the areas of independent design, space planning, building design, problem solving, and collaborative projects with other architects on many diverse and challenging projects throughout our community.

Just a few of our public and not-for-profit projects have included Headwaters Park, the Visiting Nurse Community Grief Center, WFWA PBS 39 studios, the DeKalb County Courthouse restoration, and the conversion of the former Angola and Decatur High Schools into vibrant community centers.

We have become known for our affordable, high-quality designs in Fort Wayne and the surrounding communities. We diligently provide design solutions that are appropriate for the time, region, site, function, and budget.

We are proud to have made a name as a community partner, becoming actively involved in the historical restoration and development of our community, receiving many awards and accolades locally and nationally. We strive to make every project a priority, always assigning a principal architect to each project to ensure its success. Our highest marks from past clients are in the areas of service, client satisfaction, and goal and budget reaching.
